Pin It Now!
Yesterday my daughter started the 2nd grade. It was a very exciting day for her. I was excited for her, but I will admit, as her Mommy, I was not as excited as she was. She is still my baby girl, my only child (so far) and I cannot except the fact that time flies. It seems to hold still when we cannot stand the moment, but when you want it to slow down - It's Gone! Maybe someday I will find you time, and snatch you up (hold you hostage even) and make the most of what I believe is priceless. Until then, I will choke down the tears as I watch my smart, adorable, independent little girl become a young lady. I love you so so much Chloe girl, and I hope you have the most amazing year in 2nd grade.

Pin It Now! Ok, so I am finally 3/4 of the way done with my daughter's room. I am feeling a sense of accomplishment because it has been 6 months since the first branch on her tree was sketched in chalk. The tree - DONE, the desk - DONE, the mini wall gallery above desk - DONE. It feels so good to check this off my list before school starts up in 2 weeks. My husband (at his leisure) will put up the crown molding as promised (there is no going back since we didn't paint the strip near the ceiling as you will see in the pics below). You also can't tell, but the ceiling is 2-3 shades darker for contrast. I will also make her a quilt of some kind. Just when I finally think I have picked out the quilt pattern that I like, I see something else. The fabric of choice is Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom line. Although, I may make a cream or brown ruffled comforter (anthropology style) with a bunch of cool throw pillows with that fabric. Any thoughts? Would a quilt look too busy? Well, enjoy the desk before and after pics and have a great weekend everyone!

BEFORE - This is a thrifted desk that I picked up for $12. It was painted with a yellowish cream color in high-gloss paint which looked weird and made for a rough writing surface. So this pic is after my hubby sanded and painted it pink for me.

AFTER - I distressed it of course and added the wooden pieces under the  knobs to make it look more vintage. My husband did not understand why I would mess up a perfectly good paint job. :-)

Shabby Rocking Horse

Pin It Now!
Hooray for Friday! I have been w a i t i n g for the weekend since last Sunday.  :) Well, I'm so glad it is here nonetheless. I'm so excited to share a project that I finished up last night. I found an old wooden rocking horse that I shabbied up and made her a beauty. Ruffle saddle and all. What more can a girl ask for? I hope to re-stock my shop with some things this weekend that I have been working on. It may be Monday or Tuesday depending upon how the weekend goes, but it will be stocked soon. For those of you that don't know about my Etsy shop, I have been M.I.A. for the last 2 years. Life happens, but now I'm back. Can't wait to share what I will be listing. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Welcome Home!

Pin It Now!

I would like to take a minute to welcome back the Maxfield family from Ethiopia. This was no ordinary vacation, but a journey to bring home their sweet baby boy Caden. You can check out their blog and read all about how this family of 3, became a family of 4. Not only will you read about Caden's adoption story, but Koral's aswell. Lisa will have you laughing and crying at the same time as you go thru her posts which started in July of 2011. Click
here or hit the link to the right in My Blog List - justlove127. Keep them in your prayers as they are transitioning and trying to recover from their long journey.

Can't wait to see you guys!!

Good Monday morning to ya!

Pin It Now!
Good Morning! I have something to share.... I am re-doing my daughter's room and have been working on creating a wall gallery above her desk. I have purchased about 90% of the items that I am using from various thrift stores around town and have been busy at work refurbishing and distressing everything. I don't know who is having more fun. My daughter for getting a new room, or me because I get to shop at my favorite places and craft until my eyes bleed and my fingers hurt. (Come on....everyone knows a Mom's best time to think straight uninterrupted is at night when everyone is fast asleep) But sometimes I get carried away and have to finish just one more thing, then one thing leads to another and BAM....it's 1:45 in the morning. I should get to bed is what I am thinking to myself. But then I fight back and tell myself that I am having too much fun and reason with myself about what I am going to accomplish. After all, I'll set the coffee timer on my way to bed. :) Take a look and let me know what you think. I have actually filled 2 of the frames. One is a hand embroidered bird in a cage that I slapped together in a hurry on one of the fabric swatches from the quilt I am going to make. I'm not really impressed with it, but my daughter loves it so it's a keeper. The other is a silhouette I made of my girl with a cute pinwheel bow. Not sure what I will put into the other frames just yet. We shall see what I dream up next. Have a great week everyone!

I originally bought this old picture for the frame, but the picture is growing on me and I really love it. Wierd? I don't really know where to hang it. It doesn't necessarily fit the "theme". Thoughts??
