Time

Pin It Now!
Yesterday my daughter started the 2nd grade. It was a very exciting day for her. I was excited for her, but I will admit, as her Mommy, I was not as excited as she was. She is still my baby girl, my only child (so far) and I cannot except the fact that time flies. It seems to hold still when we cannot stand the moment, but when you want it to slow down - It's Gone! Maybe someday I will find you time, and snatch you up (hold you hostage even) and make the most of what I believe is priceless. Until then, I will choke down the tears as I watch my smart, adorable, independent little girl become a young lady. I love you so so much Chloe girl, and I hope you have the most amazing year in 2nd grade.

Progress

Pin It Now! Ok, so I am finally 3/4 of the way done with my daughter's room. I am feeling a sense of accomplishment because it has been 6 months since the first branch on her tree was sketched in chalk. The tree - DONE, the desk - DONE, the mini wall gallery above desk - DONE. It feels so good to check this off my list before school starts up in 2 weeks. My husband (at his leisure) will put up the crown molding as promised (there is no going back since we didn't paint the strip near the ceiling as you will see in the pics below). You also can't tell, but the ceiling is 2-3 shades darker for contrast. I will also make her a quilt of some kind. Just when I finally think I have picked out the quilt pattern that I like, I see something else. The fabric of choice is Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom line. Although, I may make a cream or brown ruffled comforter (anthropology style) with a bunch of cool throw pillows with that fabric. Any thoughts? Would a quilt look too busy? Well, enjoy the desk before and after pics and have a great weekend everyone!

BEFORE - This is a thrifted desk that I picked up for $12. It was painted with a yellowish cream color in high-gloss paint which looked weird and made for a rough writing surface. So this pic is after my hubby sanded and painted it pink for me.

AFTER - I distressed it of course and added the wooden pieces under the  knobs to make it look more vintage. My husband did not understand why I would mess up a perfectly good paint job. :-)
